The 4K-UHD Summit 2016, the second edition of the world summit of 4K-Ultra High Definition (UHD) technology, was held on November 10 and 11 in Seville. 4K-UHD, where image and sound quality are multiplied by four from HD, will revolutionize film and television. On the banks of the Guadalquivir, at the Hotel Ribera de Triana, experts from technology companies and content producers from more than 20 countries shared their UHD experiences and projects.
During the celebration of the Channel South event, Canal Sur, in collaboration with Axion, made its first 4K emission in tests for the province of Seville. In addition, it was possible to access and reproduce such content through an HbbTV application (hybrid television that includes video content through broadband), which is marked on the broadcast and specially created for the 4K-UHD Summit by Tmira Solutions.
Application was designed to offer multibitrate (10 and 25 Mbit per second) video content, giving the viewer to enjoy different 4k productions about typical Andalusian events like Carnaval o flamenco festivals.
